Do you want to shape the future digital landscape of Salford City Council and make a positive impact on our residents and employees? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dynamic and innovative team as a Modern Operations Portfolio Lead.

Who we are

We are Salford City Council's Digital, Data and Technology service, and we are on a mission to create a fairer, greener and healthier Salford. We are responsible for delivering digital transformation across the council, enabling our services to be more efficient, effective and user-friendly. We work with cutting-edge technologies, such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, OCI, M365, and robust data platforms, to provide solutions that meet the needs and expectations of our diverse and growing population.

We are also an award-winning service, having recently won the Digital Leaders 100 Award for Digital Council of the Year and many others across the years. We are proud of our achievements, but we are not complacent. We are always looking for new ways to improve our service, and we are keen to recruit talented and motivated individuals who share our vision and values.

What you will do

As a Modern Operations Portfolio Lead, you will be the lead over the very ambitious team of Enterprise Architects and Technology Specialists. You will be responsible for our ModOps function, jointly shaping the architecture and future roadmaps of the enterprise architecture, ensuring a modern fit-for-purpose approach whilst enabling an agile and innovative organisation to continue to exploit technology for better employee and resident user experience.

You will also be accountable for the outputs produced by the Modern Operations team and provide overall direction, guidance and definition of enterprise architecture to support the DDaT strategy and goals. You will work with executive-level stakeholders and provide advice and recommendations based on your significant specialist knowledge and experience. You will also lead or guide others in using best practices for enterprise architecture, such as industry standards, and help to develop, maintain or update strategy in response to feedback and findings.

In addition, you will lead the Net Zero/ESG Roadmaps for Sustainable IT and move from "always-on" to "always-available". You will also support defining principles, patterns, standards, policies, vision statements and roadmaps and effectively focus on outcomes rather than solutions.
