Are you an experienced Practitioner, Chair or Manager looking to develop your career to the next stage?

Or perhaps you are an experienced LADO looking to join Salford?

Now is a very exciting time to join Children’s Services in Salford.  We want children growing up in Salford to see and say that their city, community, and services are great! This was recognised in our recent Ofsted inspection which rates our overall services as ‘Good’ with ‘Outstanding’ in Management and Leadership as well as our Next Steps Service.

We pledge to continue to drive forward on our mission to be a child friendly city with Outstanding Services in all areas.

What we are looking for?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) to join our LADO service. The role leads on the process for ensuring that children are safe and protected from harm / allegations of harm against professionals. This is achieved through excellent management of allegations against adults or organisations that work with children.

Within this role you will make important decisions and work with a range of stakeholders to achieve safety for children in Salford, chairing Managing Allegations Meetings against staff and volunteers as governed by the requirements of the Children Acts 1989 and 2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and Keeping Children Safe in Education.

What we offer you
We are expanding our LADO team; therefore, you will be joining a friendly, experienced LADO and will be welcomed into the wider Safeguarding Unit. You will be supported in your role by a dedicated LADO Business Support Officer and report directly to the SQAU Service Manager.

Salford value each employee and offers a range of development opportunities including apprenticeships, Management and Leadership courses and ‘on the job’ learning.

We have our main hub at Unity House in addition, for quieter days we encourage home working at least one day a week.

For an informal discussion about the role please feel free to contact Vickie Hollingworth, Service Manager vickie.hollingworth@salford.gov.uk. We look forward to hearing from you!

Please be aware that this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. If you have lived or worked abroad for 3 months or more in the last 5 years or 12 months or more (whether continuously or in total) in the last 10 years whilst aged 18 or over, please refer to the link below for details for how to obtain your Certificates of Good Character. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/criminal-records-checks-for-overseas-applicants
