The Council employs 3400 people across its 4 directorates. This position sits within the Place Directorate that is made up of 1350 people providing a full and diverse range of services on behalf of Salford residents. The role of the emergency planning and resilience officer and the work of colleagues is vital to many of the day to day operations of the Council and there are many working relationships with Place and wider Council colleagues as part of the services delivered by the team.
About the role
This is a brand-new role to support the Head of Community Safety, Resilience and Neighbourhood Management at Salford City Council and is an excellent opportunity to make this role your own.
The Service lead will take responsibility for emergency planning arrangements for Salford City Council in addition to supporting the Council to respond to a wide range of incidents and emergencies. The role will also lead the coordination of business continuity across the Council. The role works very closely with our partner agencies and bodies in particular Greater Manchester Resilience Unit (GMRU)
Responsibilities include-
• Assisting in ensuring the Council meets its duties under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004
• Providing a comprehensive, effective, and efficient emergency planning and business continuity function which manages risk and ensures the Council’s preparedness and response to incidents are appropriate and compliant with current legislation and takes account of best practice.
• Development and implementation of emergency planning policy
About you
You will have previous experience of emergency planning and business continuity; the role operates within a partnership environment therefore experience of working in partnership cross multiple partner organisations would help you within this role. You will be a people centric person and have the ability to work with others. You will be able to confidently enforce a high support, high challenge culture within our outcome’s resolution duties. To be a skilled communicator across all sectors and levels, who communicates with clarity, conviction and enthusiasm and is able to demonstrate integrity, create rapport and build trust and confidence.
