Grade: 4C, £39,880 - 42,821
Working Hours: 36 hours

Location: Flexible approach with a combination of home and office based working

You will be joining a fast-paced procurement team at a crucial and important time in driving standards and best practice within our category led approach to procurement.

We are looking for highly ambitious, enthusiastic people who are customer focused, add value, demonstrate all of the Council’s values, behaviours and expectations and continually strive for excellence. You will play an important role in the delivery of a fantastic, forward thinking, flexible, creative, commercial and collaborative procurement team, which aims to exemplify excellent procurement practice.

As a Category Manager operating within the People category, covering Childen’s services, Adult’s services and Public Health, you will be self-disciplined, working within a busy and progressive department and be responsible for planning and driving a busy pipeline of procurement activity, at pace, delivering improved service outcomes, value for money and improved social value as part of the ongoing service delivery.

If you are highly motivated and appreciate a demanding workload, working to tight deadlines with a variety of stakeholders, enjoy a challenge and want the opportunity to work in a varied role across the team, we would love to hear from you.

You will have:
Experience of operating within a public sector procurement environment, with a background and understanding of People services such as Children’s, Adults or Public Health.
• Evidence of how your experience and approach have added significant value and improved outcomes within a People environment.
• An understanding of the commissioning cycle and the role that procurement plays within it.
• CIPS Level 6 qualified or having been working at an equivalent level.
• Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills and the ability to build relationships at all levels across the organisation.
• Experience of developing proactive strategic supplier relationships.
• Strong commercial skills with an understanding of how these can be applied within the People portfolio.
• Model and demonstrate our values and behaviours.
• Experience in delivering improved ‘Social Value’ outcomes as part of the procurement planning and approach, ensuring that benefits are delivered within the City whilst striving to improve quality and raise standards.
