We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced social worker to join Salford City Council as a Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) working 28 hours per week.
This will be a split role as 21 hours per week will be dedicated to the well established LADO position for Children’s Services, with one day per week for Adults Service. As LADO you will ensure that safeguarding allegations made against those who work with children and young people are managed effectively and fully considered. Working within a multi-agency context you will use your extensive experience of social work and safeguarding to provide advice, guidance, support and challenge to organisations that work with children when one of their employees and/or volunteers faces an allegation, and in doing so you will be helping to ensure children, young people and families in Salford are protected.
You will be required undertake the role of the LADO in accordance with statutory requirement and guidance; and to ensure that all participants are enabled to contribute. This will require the ability to offer consultations giving prompt and informed advice, chair strategy meetings where appropriate and ensure that plans are carried out effectively.
You will also be required to deliver training and offer consultation and advice to other professionals ensuring that lessons learned from the role are communicated to agencies and integrated into practice.
Staff within the Unit now under take Secondary Skills in addition to their role as LADO where capacity allows, which relate to other roles within the Safeguarding Unit.
