Working Hours: 36 hours per week (including evenings and weekends as the service requires)

We have an exciting position available for a Head Gardener whose role is to maintain and manage the gardens at Ordsall Hall, supervise garden-based staff and volunteers, and work as part of a wider senior team to ensure that the gardens develop to become more engaging for visitors of all ages and abilities.

This role will be based at Ordsall Hall, Salford’s ‘jewel in the crown,’ - a Grade 1 listed Tudor mansion house that is surrounded by 2 acres of gardens. Ordsall Hall operates as an engaging heritage site that is open to the public all year round.

We are looking for someone who:
• Has experience of managing gardens to a high standard
• Is an excellent communicator and a fantastic team player
• Has experience of managing engaging horticultural projects and partnerships with people of all ages and abilities
• Is able to motivate, engage and manage staff and volunteers
• Has excellent practical horticultural skills across a range of horticultural practice
• Consistently demonstrates SCL’s behaviours
