This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and child-centred individual to join our committed and experienced team.
Your role will be to chair Initial Child Protection and Review Case Conferences under the Signs of Safety Model and multi-agency Strategy Meetings.
The Unit is expected to perform a central role in setting and maintaining standards across key areas of social work with children and families. As a member of the team you will be expected to contribute to these and other activities. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality of practice and improving the outcomes for children and young people with a dedicated workforce in Salford.
On occasion you may also be required to offer support to the Independent Reviewing Officers (IRO) and Local Authority Designated Officers (LADO) by chairing LAC Reviews and LADO Strategy meetings.
Prospective candidates must possess a social work qualification and be able to demonstrate at least 5 years experience in work with children and families, including Looked After children, Care Proceedings and Child Protection as a practitioner, with an expectation that you will have knowledge of legislation and regulations and the ability to manage complex meetings. Together with others on the team, you will take a leading role in keeping the Directorate informed of Performance Management Information and will act as a consultant for safeguarding across agencies. There will be an opportunity to become a member of the multi-agency SSCB Safeguarding Training Pool. You will need to be highly motivated, enthusiastic and well organised with the flexibility to meet deadlines. Staff within the Unit now undertake Secondary Skills in addition to their role as a CP Co ordinator, which relate to other roles within the Safeguarding Unit.
