The team is responsible for the delivery of the Local Authority’s statutory duties in relation to the assessment, provision and review of children and young people with complex SEN.

Working closely with parents and other professionals from schools, health services and social care, the team ensure that the individual SEN of children are met within the context of managing resources fairly and equitably.

The SEN team co-ordinate the statutory assessment and review process, produce Education, Health & Care Plans, identify and commission appropriate provision

We currently have an exciting vacancy within our busy team delivering Salford City Council’s statutory responsibility for the assessment, drafting and amending of Education, Health and Care Plans, and for the placement and review of children and young people (0 -25) with SEND.  

About the role
The role involves working a busy caseload across the Local Authority, managing the statutory Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and working towards co-production of EHCPs with professionals and families. You would be responsible for the administration of the procedures for the assessment, drafting and amending of EHCPs, and for the placement and review of children and young people (0-25) with SEND and for ensuring that the EHCPs clearly detail the needs of the child / young person, have clear actions and are outcome focussed with realistic timeframes.

You would be responsible for ensuring that the process, from initial application to final EHCP, meets the statutory timescales, and that the council meets its statutory duties in relation to the Children and Families Act (2014), the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and the Equality Act (2010)

You would provide advice and support to schools and settings, governors, young people and parents / carers on matters relating to children and young people with SEND requiring an EHCP, deal with correspondence and telephone queries concerning all aspects of the statutory process and maintaining detailed and accurate records for each child.

Attendance at statutory review meetings and other multi-agency meetings relating to children and young people with SEND is an important part of the role and where necessary you would be required to give advice concerning SEN procedures, provide notes / minutes, take appropriate follow-up action and convey recommendations to senior colleagues.

The payment for this will be deducted from your first four months’ salary payments at a rate of £11.00 per month.
