Working Hours:

Grade: 2B £16,408 - £17,760
Contract Type: Permanent

Ellenbrook Community Primary School is seeking to appoint an Administrative Officer to join our school in assisting the School Business Manager with the efficient running of the school reception desk and busy office including maintenance of the school’s business systems.

The successful candidate:
• Must have a knowledge of a local authority’s school business procedures or practices plus additional clerical knowledge in order to do this job.

• Will possess advisory, guiding, negotiating and/or persuasive skills which are required regularly at an enhanced level. The exchange of complicated and/or sensitive information is a requirement of the job, the communication of this information is normally carried out orally.

• Is able to work in an independent manner taking the initiative when required. There are recognised, laid-down procedures covering all the main activities, tasks and duties of this job although the jobholder is not always given instructions defining how the main task(s) are to be carried out. They will be expected to organise their own workload and determine priorities within the working day and will be required to make decisions about when and how duties are to be carried out beyond that.

• Will possess enhanced mental attention which is required to ensure that the tasks and duties of this job are carried out correctly. This has to be applied over medium periods of time at least once a day. There is a need for concentrated sensory attention by the jobholder for short periods. Working to deadlines is a feature of this job, some of which are more than simply a requirement to complete a task or series of tasks by a pre-set time. The job is regularly subject to conflicting demands, with more than one person requiring a service or assistance simultaneously, the job holder will sometimes be forced to address the new demand immediately, before completing the current task. Unavoidable interruptions occasionally make it difficult to complete the job duties.

This role would ideally suit someone who has experience of working in a busy school environment.
On the job training will be provided.
