About us – it’s no Salfordinary City
This is Salford’s time! We are changing and have ambitious plans for our modern global city, where our workforce can collectively make a real difference to the lives of local people. The council is people-centred, and values based which makes Salford a really great place to work. With a positive permission culture and can-do approach, we embrace innovation and nurture great talent.

Housing is one of our Great Eight priorities for creating a better and fairer Salford. As employees of the council, we all have a vital role to play in achieving our vision of creating a better and fairer Salford, by providing the best possible quality of life for the people of the city, through a range of services across Salford.

Salford City Council’s Supported Housing Team were Winners of Front Line Team of the Year by Inside Housing Magazine and Care and Support Team of the Year in the Housing Heroes 2020 awards organised by the Chartered Institute of Housing. It recognises our support for a wide range of people who are at risk of losing their accommodation or have become homeless.

We have also been filmed for several television documentaries as well as a few news programmes. The most recent programme being Manctopia on the BBC.

Rachel Connelly, Head of Supported Housing, said about the awards: “The awards are recognition of the phenomenal work of the Supported Housing Team over the last 12 months. It recognises the Supported Tenancy and Temporary Accommodation Team for their work with statutory homeless households. It also recognises the significant work around supporting and accommodating rough sleepers through our A Bed Every Night programme and Rough Sleeper Initiative. Equally important is the work that specialist officers undertake to provide housing support to members of the Armed Forces Community, care leavers, refugees and people experiencing domestic abuse”.

To enable us to continue supporting our communities and deliver an excellent service, we are building capacity to help us with our response to support those who are vulnerable with a housing need including street homeless.

About you
Your style and approach will reflect our values: you will be passionate about what you do always striving to improve things; valuing and respecting others’ contribution, with a people-centred approach to ensure our values are front and centre in all you do. You will take pride in working side by side with clients, all relevant agencies, carers and interested partners, to develop bespoke customer focused early intervention and prevention initiatives that promote tenancy sustainment and assist vulnerable people to participate in their communities. You will enjoy taking personal responsibility to understand and resolve issues and are able to adapt what you do and how you do it to make a real difference to people’s lives.

If you have the skills to work as part of a busy team; have empathy with those who are vulnerable with a housing need including street homeless; you are friendly and confident and happy to work in a customer facing role, then we would love to hear from you.
