Head of Development

Band F:
 £66,460
Working Hours: 36
Contract Type: Permanent

This is Salford’s time.

In the last decade the city has seen private sector investments amounting to billions of pounds securing new commercial developments, housing, infrastructure, public realm, cultural, health and educational facilities. Building on this momentum the city now offers an exceptionally strong set of growth propositions that will allow it to develop further as a place to live, to work and to visit for a diverse urban, suburban and rural culture. Our business base has diversified and grown with new jobs in digital, media, creative, financial & professional services and new distribution and logistics businesses. Population numbers are once again on the rise and the demand for new homes is driving growth and transformation and as such the city will record the most significant increase in GVA in the whole Greater Manchester conurbation over the next decade.

With further transformational opportunities at strategic growth locations including The Quays and MediaCityUK, the Greater Manchester Western Gateway and City Centre Salford, the city council is looking to strengthen and enhance its commercially focussed Regeneration team to support and influence future development through collaboration with investors and developers, inspire project management excellence and maximise investment and funding opportunities.

We are looking for a dynamic and driven leader with a demonstrable track record in delivery and project/programme management as well as current knowledge and experience of the development industry. To be successful you will need imagination and flair to bring new ideas as well as the skills, experience and determination to drive forward a series of major projects and commercial opportunities. You will also have experience of working at a senior level in a large multi-disciplinary organisation as well as being confident in managing complex and challenging issues in a fast paced environment.

Heading the Development Team, this senior role will be critical to the continuing growth of the City, investment in key development schemes and work with private sector partners. Working alongside key delivery partners, developers and contractors the successful candidate will be an engaging, resilient and excellent negotiator with the ability to inspire project management excellence, take ownership of a significant portfolio of work and relationship management.

For an informal discussion regarding the position, please contact Jim Wensley, Assistant Director for Regeneration, on 0161 686 7410.
