Salford Safeguarding Adult Board (SSAB) Business Manager

Working Hours: 36 hours per week
Grade: 5B - £44,632 - £46,490
Contract Type: Permanent

We currently have an exciting vacancy within our team to enable us to continue to build on our success and also bring new experience, knowledge and ideas into the team.

‘Salford Safeguarding Adults Board SSAB) can be justifiably proud of the strengths that have been identified with regard to the leadership of the Safeguarding Adults Board working across organisations as an integrated system” (ADASS Adult Safeguarding Peer Challenge Report , April 2019)

In 2016 Salford created an Integrated Care Organisation (ICO), with Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust (SRFT) as the prime provider of health and social care in Salford. This integration saw the transfer of the majority of Salford City Council’s Adult Social Care service to SRFT to facilitate a shift in emphasis from treatment in hospital, to prevention, reduction and delay of health and social care needs. Consequently the SSAB support team sits within the Integrated Commissioning division in Salford City Council and Salford Clinical Commissioning Group to ensure full independence in the work of the SSAB. It’s an exciting time to join the SSAB support team as we look to implement the second phase of our three year strategy building on the good foundations and active membership that already exist.

About you
Your style and approach will reflect our values: you will be passionate about what you do always striving to improve things and innovate; valuing and respecting others’ contribution, you will work together to deliver a better service; you will take pride in getting things right and learn from when things do go wrong; you will enjoy taking personal responsibility to resolve issues and change what you do and how you do it to make a difference.

Your natural leadership style will align with our #LeadingSalford leadership behaviour framework. In return, our development programme will help develop your skills, knowledge, and confidence as a leader to meet the expectations that we have of our Salford leaders.

You should also have a strong understanding of Adult Social Care and Health, both in terms of service provision and the needs of this population.

About the role
The Salford Safeguarding Adults Board (SSAB) has a statutory responsibility to ensure that Salford has an effective multi-agency response to safeguard our most vulnerable adults and ensure measures are in place to prevent any form of abuse, neglect and/ or exploitation.

As the Safeguarding Adults Board Business Manager, you will lead on the ongoing development of the SSAB, ensuring duties and responsibilities are effectively discharged in accordance with government guidance and legislation and meeting strategic and operational requirements. You will be responsible for the delivery of the statutory requirements of the SSAB (Strategy & action plan, annual report and SAR process) and ensure effective structures and processes are in place to facilitate and performance manage partnership working in relation to safeguarding adults at risk across the statutory, independent and third sectors.

You will build on the strong and well established partnerships that already exist in Salford and will also participate with Greater Manchester adult safeguarding arrangements as well as have a presence with regional and national groups to bring developments into the working of the Board as well as promote the good work that Salford Safeguarding partners undertake.

You will promote, develop and support high quality safeguarding practice and performance in SSAB partner organisations, which is based on legislation, knowledge, research and the effective contribution of all participants, and which leads to positive outcomes for adults with care and support needs.

You will provide a strategic lead to the SSAB and associated sub groups, ensuring the SSAB continually develops its approach for safeguarding and promotes desired outcomes for adults at risk and also supporting and strengthening arrangements with the Children’s Safeguarding structures and processes.
