Peel Park lies alongside the River Irwell in the centre of the city of Salford, close to the heart of Manchester. It is in the centre of major redevelopment works and it neighbours with the University of Salford. It is an important local asset with nearly 30,000 people living within a radius of 1.2km.

Working with the Friends of Peel Park and local partners the park has recently benefited from Heritage Lottery Funding and a major refurbishment programme to bring it back to its former glory. Through this funding we aim to “create an attractive, well used park for 21st century living providing a place for enjoyment, inspiration, reflection and a source of local pride”.

We are recruiting a Park Keeper to join the Ranger Team and to be responsible for on-going involvement in the project from the local community, groups, organisations and key partners.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with experience in partnership working, community development and volunteer engagement. You will need a good understanding of horticulture and an interest in local history.

Based on the doorstep of Peel Park the Park Keeper will implement a wide range of activities and engagement projects with a focus on local history, health and nature conservation activities. Working with partner organisations the Park Keeper will optimise community engagement opportunities to ensure sustainability beyond the life of the project.

For an informal discussion about the post, please contact Alistair Cook on 0161 925 1297.
