You will possess a thorough knowledge of governance legislation and be able to apply this to improving outcomes for children and young people in Salford.

You will display excellent leadership skills, able to motivate and enthuse the members of the team, investing in their professional development and leading by example.

You will have a flexible approach to your working pattern as you will be required to undertake additional duties at times including evening work.

You will have excellent communication skills, be assertive and yet tactful in managing relationships with our governing boards and members of the team.

About the role
This position will afford the successful candidate an opportunity to build on the excellent reputation that the Governor Services team has in schools by:
• Providing outstanding advice and guidance to governors, headteachers and other officers on all matters relating to school and academy governance
• Developing a suite of model policies to for governing boards to ensure their compliance with statutory requirement
• Developing the clerking service to ensure that all governing boards receive accurate and timely advice and support
• Delivering an engaging programme of governor training that effectively addresses the training needs of governors
• Developing a strategic plan for the service that will contribute to the Education Department’s plans for education in Salford.

Please be aware that this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and that you will be required to meet the cost of the DBS check – currently £44.00. The payment for this will be deducted from your first four months’ salary payments at a rate of £11.00 per month.
