Advanced Social Worker
Grade: 4C, up to £42,821 per annum full time salary
Working Hours: Up to 36 hours, flexible working
Contract Type: 1x Permanent, 1x 12 months Maternity Cover & 1x FTC until January 2022

Now is a very exciting time to join Children’s Services in Salford.  We want children growing up in Salford to see and say that their city, community, and services are great, and this was recognised in our last Ofsted report which rates our overall services as ‘good’. 
  
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a  permanent post and two fixed term posts of Advanced Social Worker within Salford’s Children’s Services. The post holder will have at least 3 years post qualifying Social Work experience and will be responsible for the supervision and development of qualified social work staff and trainees. You will be responsible for and committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and for ensuring that they are protected from harm.

We have adapted our ways of working through the use of technology and provide a blended approach to working with access to a range of office spaces across the city as well a home working. Together we will keep developing ways of working that support you. 
 
 Main Duties include:

• Effectively managing a limited caseload of complex cases in accordance with statutory responsibilities. These will include Child in Need; Child Protection, Looked After Children, Public Law Outline and court proceedings cases.
• To be responsible for the supervision of qualified social work staff and trainees and contribute to the development of other staff including other social workers.
• Building effective relationships with children, young people and their families enabling full participation in assessment, planning, review and decision making.
• Effectively managing safeguarding risk including child protection, working within a multi-agency environment, providing a professional social work service. You will secure access to services, negotiating and challenging other professionals and organisations to provide the help required.
• Supporting the practice manager in managing the duty service.
• Actively contributing to the allocation of cases.
• Working in accordance with national and local policies and procedures, and using the law, regulatory and statutory guidance to inform practice decisions. 

This role is crucial in supporting our journey to the implementation of the Family partnership model of practice, and to continue to improve the outcomes for children and families in Salford. You will need to be passionate about working with children and young people, have a practice base with strengths in relational and systemic practice, and knowledge of the signs of safety risk assessment model approach.
