About the role
The Out of Hours Emergency Response Service operates when the City Councils Customer Contact Centre is closed. You will be part of small team of 3 staff who work a rota system, which operates between the periods of 4pm till midnight on a Monday to Friday and 8am till 4pm and 4pm till midnight on weekends and bank holidays.
The role involves acting as an out of hours point of contact for the public and partner agencies, answering phone calls, signposting callers to other services and initiating urgent responses where an emergency situation requires it. An example might be requesting the emergency attendance of highways staff following receipt of a phone call advising there has been an oil spillage on the highway.
Other responsibilities include the monitoring of public space CCTV cameras (for which staff will be required to attend an external training course and receive a public space CCTV license) and the undertaking of out of hours facilities management tasks, which include the locking and alarming of buildings located on the Civic Centre campus.
