Child Protection Coordinator
Working Hours:
36 hours per week 
Grade: 4C - £38,813 - £41,675

Now is a very exciting time to join Children’s Services in Salford.  We want children growing up in Salford to see and say that their city, community, and services are great and this was recognised in our last Ofsted report which rates our overall services as ‘good’.

We are expanding our Child Protection Coordinator Service meaning an excellent opportunity has arisen for a full time, permanent post (37 hours) as an Child Protection Coordinator within Salford’s Safeguarding Children and Quality Assurance Unit, based at Sutherland House, Swinton.

The post holder will have at least 3 years post qualifying experience, be able display and promote restorative practice whilst demonstrating enthusiasm and passion for protecting children and young people across the city.

To do this you will:
· Chair Initial Child Protection Conferences, and Child Protection Reviews using the Signs of Safety Model.
· Will be proactive in your responsibilities towards ensuring best outcomes for children and young people subject to child protection.
· Offer expert advice, support, consultation and mediation on practice issues to Children’s Services staff on individual cases.
· Demonstrate substantial experience in work with children and families, including Child Protection, Child in Need, Looked after Children, care proceeding.
· Support across the unit when required chairing meetings following allegations of abusive practice made against professionals, foster carers or volunteers and to assist the LADO when required.       
· Chair inter-agency strategy meetings in respect of specific child protection matters such as, Forced Marriage, Fabricated Illness, Female Genital Mutilation, Sexually Harmful Behaviour Planning meetings and Trafficking.
